The Showdown Podcast: Mitch Gagnon talks Visa Issue and MMA Junkie’s Dann Stupp talks UFC on Fox

January 27, 2012 By: admin Category: Uncategorized

During last night’s broadcast of “The Showdown”, I was joined by Canadian lightweight Mitch “The Machine” Gagnon as well as Co-Founder and Editor in Chief of MMAJunkie.com, Dann Stupp.

The show starts off with a recap of the past week’s MMA headlines, news and results.

Then, Gagnon joins the show to discuss what went wrong with his visa application. The issue prevented the “The Machine” from making his UFC debut vs Jonny Bedford, a bout that was set to take place Saturday night during the UFC on Fox 2 prelims. Mitch describes the process, why it can be looked at as a positive and what is required for him to officially garner his work permit.

The second segment of the show was dedicated to the highlights from the UFC on Fox 2 pre-fight press conference.

Highlighted by headliners Rashad Evans and Phil Davis, we played the banter between the two, but perhaps, the real one who shined with his verbiage was Chael Sonnen, whose clips we also played during the segment.

In the final segment, I was joined by Stupp, who shared with us “the pulse” of ChiTown, as the city prepares for Saturday’s night’s big event. Dann offered his thoughts on what went down at Wednesday’s media workouts, how Sonnen seems to sucker all media into his role playing and what we can expect from Saturday night’s main event.
